Things We Hide From The Light Book Review

Things We Hide From The Light by Lucy Score

3/5 stars

I am not one to pay much attention to other readers ratings of a book because at the end of the day everyone is different and what they might dislike, I love and vice versa. Also what makes you like or dislike a book it’s a bunch of different things that vary from reader to reader. And in the case of this book I strongly recommend you pay no attention to my rating 😂.

The reason for this is the following…

I loved book one and to be honest I was a little hesitant at first because I usually only like to read 500+ page books when they are fantasy or fantasy romance. For me romance and rom coms that are over 400 pages, I always end up thinking it was longer than it should have been and in some cases I start the book totally hooked and then by the end I was already bored with it. But book one, Things we never got over, I enjoyed every page of it and it is one of my favorite reads from last year. While reading I obviously loved the main characters and was really intrigued by the character of Lucian and the mystery between him and another female character named Sloane. A character I didn’t really like much was Nash, which is the main male character in this book, which is the second of the series. That in itself had the book in a disadvantage compared to book one. Still I knew I was going to read it because I like to finish series and I like to give second chances. And the icing on the cake was I ended up winning a physical copy of the book on a Goodreads Giveaway, as soon as it arrived I got to it since it is important to me at least to read and review books I win in these giveaways or are given to me by the author because at the end of the day the whole idea is for the author to obtain the readers feedback.
I’ll begin by saying that I can’t wait till book three because that is Lucian’s book and I have a mild (severe) obsession with him and really hoped book two would be about him, but as luck would have it I would have to wait. Now like I mentioned before, this book is Nash’s book. Towards the end of book one Nash had gotten shot. I’m not saying more because I hate spoilers and I don’t want to ruin it for you if you have yet to read book one. Book two picks up with Nash’s life after the events in which he was shot. Here our main female lead is the character of Lina who we also meet in book one. The book focuses in these two characters and the secrets and struggles they carry while finding themselves falling for one another while still dealing with the unfinished business from the person responsible for shooting Nash and causing a whole lot of trouble in book one. Again trying not to spoil it for anyone.
To be really honest I think the reason why this was not a five stars for me it was because of ME. I really can’t say why Nash just didn’t grow on me completely because at the end, the book and it’s story is not bad at all and Lucy Score is a phenomenal writer and now the only author who has gotten me to read a 500 plus pages romance book. We also get to follow book one characters Knox and Naomi and get a little bit more mystery from Lucian and Sloane.

To conclude, let this be a lesson that book ratings should not deter you from giving a book a chance if you read the summary and think this is something you may like.
