It is a must for me to take some time to talk about this book, and with all I have going on and not enough time, believe me when I tell you that the book is worth me finding time I don't have to talk about it. This is my first title of author J.T. Geissinger, I do have Perfect Strangers on my TBR but have yet to start it. Both of these titles by this author have been talked about often in many if not all of the book related Facebook groups I have joined since getting back into reading. Most of the comments were about how good the spice was, how it kept readers on the edge of their seats and an unexpected twist nearing the end. Seeing the cover also had me thinking that this was another contemporary romance book with dramatic twists and turns. But then I started to read a little more and go further into the comments section and I started to see a lot of talk about suspense, mystery and paranormal, that got me a lot more curious and then I saw it was on Kindle Unlimited and I pressed that READ Now button.
The story follows Kayla, a recently widowed art illustrator who started to receive letters from a man she did not know right after her husband's burial, a man who apparently was also in jail.  Also during this time in which she is adjusting to being alone, she finds herself with many house problems, the kind of problems her husband would take care of but he was no longer present. Because of these new hassles she ends up meeting Aidan while also still receiving letters from the mystery jail man named Dante. Kayla would soon discover herself in scenarios she would have never imagine herself to be in, some strange and scary and others a lot more enjoyable sort of speak ( enter the spice ). During the most difficult time of her life she is faced with the possibility of loving someone else, trying to understand what mystery jail man might really want from her and why he claims to know her when she clearly has no idea who he is and to top it all off, start to wonder if the many house problems she seems to be having are actual problems or maybe just a product of her imagination after the tragic loss of her husband.
I bet after reading the paragraph above you may think you have the story a little figured out, but trust me, you don't. I think one of the reasons I liked the book so much was because it reminded me of one of my favorite movies and if you read the book I'm pretty sure you will be able to tell which movie it is, which is also why I can't name the movie because if I do I will spoil the book for you. Like always, I prefer to keep my reviews short and spoiler free so I won't say anymore about the book and just hope that you read it and like it as much as I did. To me it is a perfect addition to your spooky season reading list.
***Remember to check for trigger warnings available in the first page of the book.
